The Royal Ballet School x Mindflick

Written by Mindflick | Oct 1, 2025 10:47:54 AM

The Royal Ballet School has partnered with Mindflick to bring their mindset-led psychometric platform and tools into the world of elite ballet training - sharpening communication, strengthening team connection, and supporting the people behind the scenes of world-class performance.

Over the next two years, the partnership will help the School’s Performance Team - formed by the Artistic and multidisciplinary Healthcare teams - to build a shared language around pressure, connection, decision-making, and support. This ensures that the young dancers at the centre of it all have the best possible platform to thrive.

The collaboration began on 8 September with a full day Ignite session at the School’s Covent Garden site, where over 40 staff came together to explore how mindset influences clarity, care, and collaboration. Using Mindflick’s platform, staff gained practical insight into how they work under pressure, how to get the best from each other, and how to communicate more precisely when it matters most. Because when support teams work well together, everything sharpens - recovery gets quicker, feedback lands better, and injury risk starts to drop.

With 230 students both from across the UK and international, and a global reputation for excellence, The Royal Ballet School blends tradition with progression - training elite dancers in a world where injury prevention, recovery, and performance sustainability matter more than ever. The School celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026 and remains the foremost classical ballet school in the world.

This partnership sits at the intersection of art and science. The Royal Ballet School has long been known for blending classical excellence with innovation, and this next step continues that legacy - embedding tools from performance psychology into one of the most elite training environments in the world.

‘At The Royal Ballet School, the way we train our young dancers is built on trust, precision, and care. This partnership helps extend those values into how we lead, communicate, and work together across every part of the Sschool, always with our students’ well-being at the forefront of every decision we make.’

Iain Mackay, Artistic Director, The Royal Ballet School

At Mindflick, our tools and approach are designed to fuel both individual and team development by strengthening connection and understanding. By building trust, we create the conditions for open, performance conversations - the true currency of high performance. These conversations help multidisciplinary teams harness different perspectives and turn them into shared wisdom, sharper practice, and new ideas.

“This is a powerful opportunity to show how trust and diverse perspectives fuel performance in an environment that pushes both classical boundaries and modern expectations. At Mindflick, we believe trust and conversation sit at the heart of exceptional teamwork and this collaboration brings that to life.”

Dr. Tim Pitt, Director & Head of Product, Mindflick

“We’re proud to support a world-class institution like The Royal Ballet School - not just in chasing excellence, but in evolving how it’s achieved.”

Sir Andrew Strauss , Executive Chairman, Mindflick

Stay tuned as we continue to capture the journey from inside the room - and what changes are made when high-performing teams are given the space, tools, and language to improve how they think, speak, and work together.

The Royal Ballet School

Founded by Dame Ninette de Valois in 1926, The Royal Ballet School is one of the world’s most celebrated centres for classical ballet training. It began as The Academy of Choreographic Art and has grown into the UK’s leading classical ballet school, attracting students with exceptional potential from across the globe.

The school’s alumni include some of ballet’s most iconic names: Margot Fonteyn, Kenneth MacMillan, Darcey Bussell, Lauren Cuthbertson, Marianela Nuñez, Marcelino Sambé, and Christopher Wheeldon. Graduates go on to perform with The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and other prestigious companies worldwide.

Entry is based solely on talent and potential, not academic background or personal circumstances. Around 80% of students rely on financial support to attend.

The Royal Ballet School is committed to widening access and nurturing creativity. Its national Associate Programme offers high-quality ballet training to students aged 8 to 18 across seven UK centres, with 90% of full-time students having progressed through this route. Students are also supported in exploring choreography through the Ninette de Valois Choreographic Programme.

Through its teacher training programmes, the school continues to shape the future of classical ballet education across both the vocational and recreational sectors.

In 2026, The Royal Ballet School will celebrate its centenary. As it approaches this landmark, the school remains focused on expanding access and opportunity while setting the standard for classical excellence in the 21st century.

Mindflick

Mindflick is a UK-based performance psychology company born out of elite sport. Founded by Dr. Pete Lindsay and Dr. Mark Bawden, we’ve supported Olympic champions, Premier League-winning teams, and senior leaders across FTSE 100 companies.

Today, Mindflick works with global organisations such as Amazon, Salesforce, JP Morgan, Coutts, Brompton, Mott MacDonald, and The Football Association. Across all these environments, our mission is simple: help individuals and teams think clearly under pressure, communicate more effectively, and adapt fast in moments that matter.

Our digital platform turns high-performance psychology into practical action. It equips teams to build trust, strengthen collaboration, and perform with clarity - whether in boardrooms, on factory floors, or during live performance. By combining human insight with tech-enabled tools, we help people move beyond just understanding themselves to actually changing how they lead, respond, and interact when it matters most.

We’ve seen this in action across industries. From Haas F1 and Kier Group to Warwick Business School and The Royal Ballet School, our approach helps organisations unlock a shared mindset and develop a common language for performance - enabling meaningful impact at scale.

At its core, Mindflick is about creating the space and structure for performance conversations that stick - so individuals, teams, and cultures can grow stronger through challenge, not in spite of it.
